What drives us

Our values

We are tenure-system faculty and librarians at MSU working democratically to organize an inclusive union. Together, we can meet the administration on equal footing, earn a seat at the table, and demand the respect our work deserves.

Faculty make MSU

We are teachers, researchers, and librarians from diverse backgrounds and disciplines across the university. Our knowledge creates enormous value: our work benefits students, brings prestige to MSU, and improves lives throughout Michigan and beyond.

Organizing empowers us to refocus the university on its core mission and strengthen MSU’s national and international standing.

Equity, resources, and dignity

We embrace our diversity and seek equitable working conditions for everyone. We expect fair and competitive salaries and benefits without salary caps or bands. We insist on the resources needed to pursue excellence in teaching, research, and service, and to attract and retain diverse, outstanding faculty.

We envision an inclusive university where every worker is treated with respect and dignity. We pursue that goal through our own work and in solidarity with other unions at MSU: an injury to one is an injury to all.

Freedom, voice, and accountability

We support stronger faculty governance so faculty remain central to university decisions. Together, we work to protect academic freedom, prevent the erosion of tenure, ensure due process, and promote transparency and accountability in administrative action.

Our union is a force for change motivated from the center of the university, where its teaching, research, service, and learning happen.
