After months of preparation, research, and bargaining, the UTSF Negotiating Team reached a tentative agreement with MSU on the amount and structure of raises for tenure-system faculty and librarians in 2026.
The tentative agreement was subject to a vote of the full UTSF membership. Voting opened at 11 a.m. on Thursday, August 6, 2026, and closed at 3 p.m. on Monday, August 10. Members received voting instructions by email.
Faculty who wanted to participate in the ratification decision could become members before the voting deadline. The resulting agreement applies across the bargaining unit, while the democratic decision to approve or reject it belongs to UTSF members.
Membership and dues
Joining UTSF for this vote did not trigger membership dues. Local dues will begin only after members ratify the union’s first full collective bargaining agreement at a later date.
This agreement addresses the 2026 raise pool. It remains separate from the larger work of negotiating the first full contract.
General membership meeting
UTSF scheduled a virtual general membership meeting for 10 a.m. on Thursday, August 6. The meeting gave members an opportunity to review the tentative agreement, hear from the negotiating team, and ask questions before voting. Meeting details were distributed directly to members by email.
Members discuss tentative agreements, question their elected representatives, and cast the votes that determine whether agreements take effect. Every new member strengthens faculty’s position at the table.
